A Holiday Gift of Trust
Don Schmitz / Human Resource Staffing
It’s the holidays; a time of mad rushing and finding the right gift. This year, I would like to suggest a gift for you; the gift of trust. No gift will be more respected at home and work.
Trust is the basic ingredient of every successful human being. No business, family, team or organization can survive without it for long. Trust is built one step at a time; you earn it. When we look at people or companies that have been unsuccessful, the major flaw is usually a lack of trust. To put it simply, companies or people who don’t walk the talk have short lives.
Unfortunately very few days pass when we don’t read or hear stories of how trust is misused; politicians…say anything to be elected, judicial systems…provide biased enforcement of the law, companies…making false advertising claims and family members…cheating on their own families.
Trust is the belief that a company or individual will tell the truth about what they think, feel and do. Individuals who trust others, take a leap of faith. They remove any suspicion or judgment and believe what they are hearing is 100% true.
When a person or company is untrustworthy, a piece of that individual or company is destroyed forever. We never forget. Mistakes can only be mended through apologies. Those who trust believe an apology is a sign of growth and maturity.
This holiday season you have gained a new opportunity for trust of family and friends. When you do, your new world could look like this;
-
You live in a country that will listen and respect all it’s people
-
The company you work for sells the truth to its costumers
-
Your coworkers return messages when they say they will
-
Your family respects each member the same
This
holiday season give the gift of trust to yourself and others.
No other gift will reenergize your family or workplace more.
Do your part to always follow through on your commitments;
especially when you don’t want to.
