The
main difference today in contract work and permanent work
is that all temporary assignments have a specific start and
ending date. When their assignment ends, the employment ends
as well.
Contract
employment is often one the fastest way to get back into the
job market.
Reasons
for employing temporary or contract workers include; the scaling
down and upsizing of a business, illness, vacation, maternity
or disability leave, sudden departures and Temporary help
services provide short term assignments (usually 2-12 months)
on a contract or temporary basis.
The

of the staffing company.
The
temporary service is responsible for payroll, withholding
taxes, unemployment and workers' compensation insurance.

Why should a business consider using contract employees? The
cost of hiring a temporary workers is often cheaper, requires
fewer risks and less manpower.
It's
fast! Getting an RFP approved, advertising, screening, interviewing
and finding the best qualified employee requires a great deal
of time and money.
If
the client is seeking flexibility in work demands, there is
nothing better. If a particular division is profitable and
requires more help, a temporary employee can be a very profitable
solution.
A
temporary worker does not increase the client company's headcount.
3.
Why should a business not use temporaries?
Every
time a temp starts a new work assignment – no matter how skilled
or unskilled – a certain amount of training is required.
Morale
and employee relations problems can arise when you have temps
working alongside permanent employees.
Certain
types of jobs are inherently dangerous and require careful
safety training.

Why would I consider being a contract employee?
Jobseekers
looking for permanent employment are able to earn money until
they find a full-time job. Most staffing companies pay every
other week.
Temporaries work when they want to work; often part-time with
time off in between contracts.
Temporary
work provides an opportunity to get your foot in the door
and showcase your talents and provide a stepping stone to
a new career.
Learning
a variety of skills increases a worker's marketability and
experience in adapting to new environments.
Temporary
employees attend many fewer meetings and more time to get
their work done.
